New ownership, same great care.

The transfer of Holy Spirit Hospital and its clinics from Geisinger to Penn State Health does not affect Holy Spirit’s long-standing tradition of quality, compassionate, faith-based care. If you’re a patient, very little — if anything — will change. The new arrangement will help maintain thousands of jobs, healthcare choice, access to care and continuity of care for everyone in the Greater Harrisburg and West Shore communities.

What does the transfer include?

The transfer includes Holy Spirit Hospital, its affiliated Holy Spirit Medical Group outpatient practices and urgent care centers, as well as the assets of the Ortenzio Heart Center.

How were employees impacted?

The roughly 2,400 Holy Spirit employees remain with Holy Spirit under the Penn State Health umbrella and are eligible for benefits through them.

Does this affect coverage through Geisinger Health Plan?

Geisinger remains active in the Harrisburg region through Geisinger Health Plan and continues to offer coverage options through its Medicare Advantage, CHIP, and commercial group and individual health insurance plans. The transaction has no impact on the coverage and benefits of current Geisinger Health Plan members in south-central Pennsylvania.
