Since 1976, Geisinger has had professional spiritual caregivers on site to attend to patients and families. You can rely on our chaplains for compassionate support and crisis counseling during stressful situations. They’re prepared to meet any requests for religious resources, and to help families and patients in need of moral support.
Our chaplains perform Catholic and Protestant sacraments and maintain a network of community spiritual leaders for other faith traditions. Each chaplain is qualified to listen, provide spiritual support and pray with patients and loved ones.
Because a patient's request to have spiritual guidance may arise any time of day or night, at least 1 chaplain is on site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Here, caring is for the whole person, not just the physical illness. Faith and spirituality are powerful resources for healing — and our chaplains help patients and families draw on them during difficult times.
The Rea Interfaith Chapel, located near the B elevators, offers a peaceful place of solitude where you can quietly connect with your faith. A prayer book is available in the chapel in which you can leave a prayer request for the chaplains.
The Janet Weis Meditation Room, located on the third floor of the Geisinger Janet Weis Children's Hospital, is a place where parents, siblings and other family members can seek spiritual comfort.
