Camp Courage is a free camp held twice a year for children ages 6 to 19 who are grieving the death of a significant person in their lives. This 2-day, 1-night program* gives campers a safe place to come together, explore their grief and learn coping skills through journaling, music, art and outdoor adventures.
There's also plenty of time for activities like archery, fishing and visits with therapy dogs. Every camper is paired with a "Big Buddy" — an adult volunteer who offers friendship and guidance and makes sure their camper has a buddy at every activity.
Plus, registered nurses and a counselor are on site at Camp Courage at all times. Campers typically come from Columbia, Luzerne, Lycoming, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder and Union counties, but campers from other areas are welcome too.
*Overnight camp takes place in the spring. Fall session is 1 day only.
