What happens at a speech therapy appointment?

At your first appointment, your therapist will interview you, perform tests and make sure they understand your specific goals. The speech therapy you need is personal to you — so we’ll create an individualized treatment plan tailored to your age, condition and speech challenges.

Once we build your plan, we’ll use a variety of therapy activities to help you achieve your goals, including:

  • Mouth or tongue exercises
  • Word games
  • Reading exercises
  • Facial movements

Before you see a speech therapist, you'll need a referral from your healthcare provider.
