Happy couple expecting baby

Why choose Geisinger for pregnancy and newborn care?

The positive test. The first kick. The last push. The beautiful bundle in your arms. Every moment counts during your pregnancy.

That’s why we’re here to support you and help you make decisions. Not just the big ones either, like finding the right labor and delivery team. The little ones, too — right down to packing your hospital bag.

You’ll get comprehensive support and care from a care team that may include OB-GYNs, certified nurse-midwives, maternal-fetal medicine specialists, dietitians and other support staff. Need childbirth classes, pregnancy support groups or behavioral health support? You’ll find them here as well.

From that first “+” on the pregnancy test to labor and delivery and beyond, get the personalized pregnancy support and birth experience you want.

Resources

You know what they say: “It takes a village.” And that village starts coming together before your baby arrives. Take advantage of our specialty programs and resources, such as breastfeeding classes, genetic testing and postpartum depression screenings and treatment.

Labor and delivery

The birthing suites at Geisinger hospitals are comfortable, extra-large and homey, designed so you can stay in one place and make yourself at home. Take a virtual tour and see for yourself! You’ll also have 24/7 access to an obstetrician or certified nurse-midwife.

Newborn services

Our labor and delivery departments are covered around the clock by a pediatrician who’s available to see your baby and answer questions. We also offer:

  • A room for you and your baby
  • Focus on bonding and skin-to-skin contact
  • Breastfeeding and nutritional support
  • Neonatal intensive care units to help babies who need extra care
  • Emotional and financial support and resources
  • Support for families of hospitalized newborns, including arts and crafts, movie nights and pizza dinners
