Heart ultrasound exam for senior man with ultrasound specialist while medical exam at hospital

Why choose Geisinger for an ultrasound?

Ultrasound is a safe, painless exam that uses high-frequency sound waves to see inside your body — no radiation involved. And it usually doesn’t require special preparation, either. During your exam, a sonographer will place warm gel on your body near the area being evaluated, then use a small handheld transducer to capture images.

When your doctor orders an ultrasound, you can have confidence in our team. We interpret results and coordinate them with your other care to keep your whole care team in the loop. And with the latest imaging technology, including AI-assisted diagnostics and 3D imaging, you'll get accurate answers faster.

Once you have an order from your doctor, you can schedule in MyChart and your results will be available to share with any member of your care team — no matter where they are.
