Do I need a referral to see a neurologist?
Yes. Once we receive a referral from your PCP or doctor, we’ll call you to schedule your first online appointment. Geisinger patients can also request a referral through MyChart. Simply:

How can I prepare for my telehealth neurology visit?
Before you meet a Geisinger neurologist online, be sure to:
- Have your medication list and any relevant imaging or lab results ready.
- Choose a quiet, well-lit space, and use Wi-Fi or a wired connection when possible.
- Have a family member or friend with you if balance, speech or memory is a concern.
Is a video visit safe and effective for a first neurology evaluation?
Absolutely. Our neurologists use a structured exam adapted to video and order any in-person tests you need.
Will I be seen in person?
Yes, when needed. Many patients have in-person testing or follow-ups based on their condition. And if you’d prefer to start in-person, just let us know — certain symptoms may warrant it.
What technology do I need?

Can my neurologist prescribe medication?
Yes. When it’s an effective and safe option, your neurologist will prescribe medication and send it directly to your pharmacy.
