Responding to questions about recent abortion services litigation
The Governor’s Office of General Counsel has shared a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document with the plaintiffs involved in the lawsuit, as well as other Medical Assistance (MA)-enrolled providers that furnish abortion services. We've also been asked to share the FAQ with you.
Your office may receive questions regarding the litigation, the FAQ document, or related abortion services coverage. In response to media coverage or other communications, members may also contact your office seeking information.
To support consistent and accurate communications, providers should refer to the FAQ document when responding to questions related to this topic.
What providers should do:
- Review the FAQ document and familiarize appropriate staff with its contents.
- Use the FAQ as the primary resource when addressing questions from patients, members, or other stakeholders.
- Ensure that all messaging and responses are consistent with the information provided in the FAQ.
- Refer individuals to the FAQ when appropriate for additional information.
