About Berwick

EMS has served the Berwick area since 1959, when local businessman Earl V. Wise helped found the Berwick Area Ambulance Association. What began as an all-volunteer service grew over the decades into a full-service ambulance provider. The team added paid EMTs and paramedics, expanded coverage across Columbia and Luzerne counties, and introduced specialized units like Medic 95 to reach more remote communities faster. In 2018, the Berwick Area Ambulance joined forces with Geisinger EMS, and today the team continues to serve the community.

About Danville

Organized in 1952, the Danville Fire Police began an emergency medical service when it bought its first ambulance — a 1947 DeSoto — for $1. Over the following decades, the service grew from a single ambulance to a dedicated facility built on A Street in 1977. In October 2015, Danville Ambulance joined forces with Geisinger EMS, and today the team continues to serve the community as part of a unified organization.
