Whether you’re getting your first dose or are exploring options for your child, it’s easy to schedule a COVID-19 vaccine at Geisinger.

Who can get the vaccine?

At Geisinger Pharmacy locations, vaccination is available to anyone age 12 or older. For the most up-to-date information on who should get vaccinated and when, visit the CDC’s website.

Note: Anyone under 18 must have a parent or guardian with them for vaccination.

Where can I get a COVID-19 vaccine?

The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine is available at all Geisinger Pharmacy locations. When you schedule your appointment, you’ll have the option to choose a location that’s convenient for you.

General vaccine questions

If I recently had COVID-19, when should I get a vaccine?

Before receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, you should meet the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) criteria for having recovered from COVID-19, meaning that you have been symptom-free for a safe period of time.

Does Geisinger offer any other COVID-19 vaccines?

No. We only offer the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for people age 12 and older.

Does Geisinger have the updated vaccine?

Yes, we offer the vaccine that protects against the latest COVID-19 variants.

Can I get the COVID-19 vaccine at the same time as the flu shot?

Yes, you can receive both shots at the same time.

Is the COVID-19 vaccine free?

You will be asked to present health insurance information for vaccine billing, which will go directly to your insurance provider.

Is the COVID-19 vaccine safe?

Yes, COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective for adults and children, according to the CDC.

Can I get COVID-19 from the vaccine?

No, it’s not possible to get COVID-19 from the vaccine.

What are the side effects?

Pain at the injection site, headache, muscle aches, low-grade fever, fatigue, chills and nausea are common and possible side effects. These side effects are an indication that your body is reacting properly to the vaccine and typically resolve within 24 to 48 hours.

If you’re having a severe reaction after receiving the vaccine, call 911.

Are there any allergies that could react to the vaccine?

If you have a history of severe allergic reactions to any vaccine, talk with your primary care provider before getting the COVID-19 vaccine.

Is the COVID vaccine safe for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding?

A pregnant or breastfeeding woman may choose to be vaccinated. In fact, people who are pregnant are at a higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19.

There is no indication that the vaccine poses any risk to expectant or breastfeeding mothers.

Getting your child vaccinated not only protects them, but it also protects family members who may be vulnerable around them.

Can I schedule a COVID-19 vaccination for my child?

Yes, you can schedule COVID-19 vaccines for children age 12 and older at Geisinger Pharmacy locations through MyGeisinger.

For children under 12, contact your pediatrician to schedule a COVID vaccination.

Will my child have any side effects from the COVID-19 vaccine?

Children tend to have similar side effects as adults, including pain at the injection site, fever, chills and fatigue. Or your child may not have any side effects — but if they do, they should feel better within 24 to 48 hours.

Can my child receive the COVID-19 vaccine at the same time as other vaccines?

Yes, it’s safe for your child to receive the COVID-19 vaccine at the same time as other vaccinations.

If my child already had COVID-19, should they still be vaccinated?

Yes, vaccination provides an additional level of protection against severe illness from future COVID-19 infections.
