Claims submission now available through Availity Essentials
By simplifying business processes, we’re improving your online experience — giving you access to the information and tools you need most. Starting Monday, Dec.16, Geisinger Health Plan will begin to move their provider portal to Availity Essentials™ to give you an enhanced provider portal, where you can:
- Submit claims
- Access Geisinger Health Plan resources and applications through a dedicated payer space
Availity Essentials offers secure online access to Geisinger Health Plan as well as other available health plans in your region. During the transition, we’ll work with Availity to provide you with the training and updates you need.
Availity is now live
Providers that only submit paper claims and don’t use a clearinghouse can now submit those claims electronically through Availity.
For providers who already submit claims to Geisinger Health Plan through a clearinghouse, there is no change to your current process or clearinghouse.
We’re phasing in Availity to replace our current provider portal, NaviNet, by the end of 2025. We’ll be communicating with you throughout each phase. Teams at Geisinger Health Plan and Availity are working to launch eligibility and benefits lookup, attachments, claim status inquiry and secure messaging for Availity soon.
We’ll also be migrating documents and resources currently found exclusively on NaviNet to Payer Spaces on the Availity portal. Currently, providers have access to the Geisinger provider portal through Payer Spaces only.

The webinar recording is in the Availity Learning Center. Select the Help and Training drop-down from the top navigation bar, then select Get Trained. On the Learning Center page, enter Geisinger in the search field at the top of the screen.

Why is Geisinger Health Plan partnering with Availity? Availity Essentials provides a singular provider experience for submitting claims, checking claim status and completing other secure administrative tasks for Geisinger Health Plan. We’re partnering with Availity to make transactions easier and simpler and reduce administrative burden.
What is Availity Essentials? It’s an online, multi-payer portal that gives providers, hospitals and other healthcare professionals access to multiple payer information via a secure user ID and password.
How do I register with Availity Essentials? To get started, your organization must designate an administrator for your office. The administrator registers the organization and adds new users to the group’s account.
If you’re the administrator for your organization, you first need to register a user account. Go to Essentials Registration & Support (opens in a new tab) and select Create Account. For registration training, visit Register and Get Started with Availity Essentials (opens in a new tab).

Is Availity Essentials free? Yes, providers can transact with sponsoring health plans on Availity Essentials for free. Geisinger Health Plan is a sponsoring health plan on Availity Essentials.
Does Availity offer training for new users? Yes, Availity provides training resources for new users to help you work with Geisinger Health Plan. After logging in, select Help & Training | Get Trained to access live and recorded webinars.
