Pulmonary testing
Geisinger has a dedicated laboratory for pulmonary testing and pulmonary function testing to aid in the treatment of lung disorders.
If you are experiencing breathing problems (such as shortness of breath) or have a lung condition, we provide the most advanced equipment for measuring your lung volume and lung function.
What you should know about pulmonary testing
- Lung volume is a routine pulmonary function test measuring the amount of air during a breathing cycle. It’s divided into four units: tidal volume, expiratory reserve volume, inspiratory reserve volume and residual volume.
- Lung function is another pulmonary test that checks how well your lungs work. The test determines how well your lungs can put oxygen into (or remove carbon dioxide) from your blood.
Why choose Geisinger for your pulmonary testing?
- In addition to pulmonary function testing, we also provide cardiopulmonary exercise testing, oxygen assessment, arterial blood gas testing and chest ultrasound.
