Couple switches to Geisinger Gold for ‘peace of mind’

Growing up in Spanish Harlem in New York City, the two lived a couple blocks apart and went to school together. She became an actress, he a doorman. 

Now in their early 70s, both of the Flemings are cancer survivors. So after retirement, they wanted to find a Medicare plan that would offer “peace of mind,” according to Mr. Fleming.

They were on Medicare for nearly a year before switching to Geisinger Gold — mainly for the prescription benefit, which offers mail-order delivery.  

“It's really very important to have very good insurance for all the treatment that you go through and medications you need,” says Mr. Fleming. “It's very important for us to have really great insurance, and we believe that Geisinger is really great insurance for us.” 

But beyond the prescription benefit, they also like that Geisinger Gold is based in Pennsylvania and that it’s affiliated with one of the largest healthcare organizations in the state. 

“We know that we have this good insurance that we can rely on, that we can trust, and that we could look after one another, because we’re both on the same plan,” Ms. Fleming says. 

They’re pleased with how easy it was to sign up for Geisinger Gold. Mr. Fleming appreciates that he’s never put on hold and the reps can answer all his questions. And he talks with Geisinger Gold customer service representatives regularly enough that he knows their names. “The human touch,” as he calls it, is the cherry on top.
