Get care now

When it comes to finding healthcare, there are a lot of options. Whether it’s urgent, primary or specialty, you can get the type of care you need — right here at Geisinger.

Know your care options

Making the right decisions about your health — and where to go when you need care — is easier when you know your options. Here are a few tips to help.

Primary care

A primary care provider, or PCP, is the healthcare provider who manages most of your health concerns.

Visit your primary care provider for annual physicals, prescription refills, vaccinations, screenings and help managing chronic conditions, like high blood pressure or diabetes. You can also turn to your PCP when non-life-threatening health conditions pop up, like a cold, rash or urinary tract infection.

Telehealth

Telehealth, or a virtual doctor appointment, allows you to connect with your healthcare provider from a smartphone, tablet or computer with a webcam. Whether you live far away or your busy schedule makes it difficult to fit in medical appointments, telehealth makes staying on top of your health easier.

Telehealth can’t always replace face-to-face care, and should not be used in emergency situations, but it’s a great option for routine and some specialty care appointments.

Urgent care

Head to your closest urgent care location when you aren’t in immediate danger but need help more quickly than you can get an appointment with your primary care provider.

Turn to urgent care for:
  • Allergies
  • Cuts that require stitches
  • Colds/flu
  • Insect bites or tick removal
  • Ear, urinary and other infections
  • Skin rashes
  • Sprains and strains
At Geisinger, our ConvenientCare centers treat a wide variety of conditions, but they don’t replace your primary care provider.

You can also get urgent care online — those 18+ can see the next available Geisinger healthcare provider from the comfort of home for minor medical concerns, like allergies, cold or flu symptoms, UTIs and pink eye.
