Everyone has unique and personal reasons for sharing their time, talent and skills through volunteering. And it’s our goal to make sure you have a meaningful experience while being of service to others through our programs.

Caring cart

Visit with patients and their families and offer comfort items.
Support services

Perform clerical support item delivery and distribution, patient mobility, patient escort/discharge and patient rounding.
Companion and patient visitor

Visiting and comforting patients.
Pet therapy volunteers

Owners and handlers of certified therapy dogs visit inpatient areas, outpatient clinics and hospital departments to bring joy, stress relief and companionship to patients, guests and employees.
Paws to Reflect

Paws to Reflect is an innovative well-being program that combines the healing power of pet therapy with peer support. Together, the peer supporter and the dog/handler pair will connect with employees in real time providing an empathetic ear and referring to additional resources as appropriate, all while fostering a psychologically safe work environment. Emergency room

Comforting patients in our emergency rooms.
Fresh Food Farmacy

Helping in our Fresh Food Farmacy by performing tasks like loading supplies and stocking shelves. Learn about our Fresh Food Farmacy.
House of Care

Perform reception and host duties for families staying in the Danville facility; provide information and directions; support clerical work, light cleaning and organizing of supplies; organize and run activities; and assist with programs.
Ronald McDonald family room

Perform reception and host duties for families staying in the Ronald McDonald family rooms; greet families; provide information and directions; and support clerical work, light cleaning and organizing of supplies.
Spiritual care

Provide a caring atmosphere and positive experience for patients and family members of all denominations in partnership with Geisinger’s Spiritual Care Department.
Greeting and wayfinding

Welcome patients and visitors, assist in wayfinding, answer phones, help with guest transport and assist in maintaining a clean, clutter-free environment in patient-facing areas.
Community education

Support Geisinger programs that provide health and wellness education experiences to youth and adults at Geisinger facilities or in locations throughout the local community.

Celebrating our volunteers

Our volunteers and the important role they play in our organization are celebrated annually through a volunteer recognition event held at each campus. You can also earn pins and acknowledgment for hours of service, attend sponsored social events and take advantage of learning opportunities throughout the year.

And if you volunteer more than 100 hours annually, you’ll also receive annual recognition from the Presidential Service Awards Program.
