Advanced surgical techniques
Our surgeons use the latest technology to perform a wide range of procedures, including:
Endoscopy is a minimally invasive procedure that doesn’t require traditional cuts or incisions. Using an endoscope — a long, flexible tube with a light and camera — surgeons can navigate through your body while watching a live video feed.
This technique is used to treat polyps, tumors or swallowing disorders and to collect tissue samples. You might hear it referred to as an upper endoscopy (when entering through your throat) or a colonoscopy (when entering through your anus).
During this minimally invasive technique, your surgeon inserts a laparoscope — a long, narrow tube — into small incisions in your abdomen. This procedure is like an endoscopy but is used to treat conditions like appendicitis, gallstones and uterine fibroids as well as perform weight loss surgery.
Robotic surgery allows for advanced precision and a higher degree of accuracy. During these procedures, your surgeon will use a computer to control and guide robotic “arms” holding surgical tools. This technique can be used to treat certain types of cancer, hernias and pelvic floor disorders.
Robotic surgery typically means smaller incisions, less scarring and a faster recovery for you.
