SMS Text Messaging Terms of Service
Why am I receiving text messages from Geisinger?
Pursuant to Geisinger’s Notice of Privacy Practices, you agreed to receive communications from Geisinger including text reminders. For reference, this is the relevant paragraph of the Notice of Privacy Practices:
“Phone Calls, Texting, and E-Mail
When you provide Geisinger with your telephone number, including your cellphone or mobile number, or e-mail you are consenting to give Geisinger permission to contact you via a phone call, text or email for certain important messages related to your healthcare. These communications can include, but are not limited to, appointment reminders, change in office hours or office closings, billing and payment issues, and other healthcare related messages. Some of these message may be generated by an automated dialing system or include a prerecorded voice. Be aware that text and messaging rates may apply.”
Opting out of text messages
To opt out of receiving text reminders from Geisinger, you may do one of the following:
- Reply to the text with “STOP”
- Update your notification settings in MyGeisinger
- Contact your provider's office
- Contact Geisinger’s Privacy Office

Text message frequency may vary. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. As always, message and data rates may apply for any messages sent to you from Geisinger and to Geisinger from you. If you have any questions about your text plan or data plan, it is best to contact your wireless provider.
