With a diverse patient population, a high-volume practice, multiple campuses and faculty dedicated to training the next generation of specialists, Geisinger’s Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship will prepare you to succeed in this challenging and constantly evolving field.

The proof is in our fellows’ success. They’re routinely recruited as soon as they graduate from our program.

As our pulmonary and critical care medicine fellow, you’ll work with diverse, skilled and collegial faculty, treating an equally diverse patient population, both in terms of disease and cultural heritage.

We’re the referral center of choice for northeastern and central Pennsylvania, and you’ll be part of a system with assets including:

  • Level I trauma center
  • Stroke center
  • Advanced cardiac care center
  • Liver transplantation center
  • Four adult ICUs staffed by pulmonary and critical care medicine teams
  • Cystic fibrosis clinic
  • Interstitial lung diseases clinic
  • Pulmonary hypertension clinic
  • Bioethics institute

Our electronic ICU (eICU) platform allows us to provide pulmonary critical care services to all Geisinger hospitals and several outside our system. You’ll be part of a team that’s experienced with ECMO, and we perform 700 to 800 bronchoscopies a year.

We’ll make sure you gain more than outstanding clinical skills. Like the chance to explore the business and financial aspects of pulmonary critical care medicine.

You’ll also benefit from our fellowship’s robust ethics and communication skills component.

Most of your training will take place at Geisinger Medical Center, the largest tertiary/quaternary care teaching hospital in the region. Geisinger Medical Center is licensed for 575 beds, including 89 pediatric beds in the Geisinger Janet Weis Children's Hospital.

Geisinger Medical Center’s critical care units are staffed by a team of specialists trained in critical care and pulmonary medicine. Both units are equipped with innovative technology and monitoring equipment used to monitor patients remotely, allowing a higher level of care for the most critical of patients.

Geisinger Medical Center also serves as one of five helicopter bases for Life Flight®, our regional helicopter service providing critical patients rapid transportation and access to advanced life support.

Are you ready to be immersed in challenges and intensive training that will make you an even better physician, ready to join any system? Apply to join us.
