Program overview

Your time as our sports medicine fellow will include intensive training and a wealth of hands-on experience. 

Along with serving as team physician for one of our affiliated high schools and universities, you’ll be immersed in a program that includes:

  • Rotations with nationally recognized sports medicine orthopaedic physicians
  • Exercise physiology course
  • Anatomy review and dissection course
  • Continuity sports medicine clinic
  • High school events
  • Mass participation events such as road races and wrestling tournaments
  • Monthly journal club attended by staff physicians, invited orthopaedic surgeons and subspecialists
  • Monthly fracture conference attended by staff physicians and orthopaedic surgeons
  • Monthly MRI conference attended by staff physicians and musculoskeletal radiologist
  • Monthly MSK ultrasound conferences attended by RMSK-certified physicians
  • Orthopaedic cadaver skills lab with ultrasound
  • Casting, splinting and orthotics workshops
  • Nutrition course

Assigned rotations include ortho sports medicine, radiology, MSK ultrasound, podiatry, cardiac rehabilitation, physical therapy and elective. Blocks of time are set aside for anatomy dissection and review, exercise physiology, nutrition and Pennsylvania Special Olympics coverage.
