Program overview

The oral and maxillofacial surgery residency curriculum far exceeds the standards required for accreditation. We focus on developing graduates who will have a substantial impact on their patients, community and the specialty.

As a resident, your education will be delivered via weekly seminars, case presentations, guest lecturers and patient-focused, evidence-based clinical practice. Monthly morbidity and mortality conference, journal club, OMS board review and emergency drills will also be integral to your learning experience.

You’ll receive a well-rounded foundation in anesthesia, medicine and surgery by working through carefully selected clinical rotations and electives. Off-service rotations include adult/pediatric anesthesia, internal medicine, acute care and trauma surgery, critical care, neurosurgery, otolaryngology and plastic and reconstructive surgery.

We emphasize research design, composition and analysis throughout the training program. As a resident, you’ll be expected to be involved in at least two published manuscripts by the completion of the program. Monthly research meetings provide an open forum to provide support, guidance and encouragement.

And beyond our well-developed and comprehensive curriculum, you’re encouraged to travel and participate in relevant conferences and surgical workshops.
