Regional campus assignments
You’ll complete your clinical training at one of our five regional campuses.
Every community has a common need for culturally competent physicians who listen carefully and respond thoughtfully.
That’s why we rely on five campuses — from Atlantic City to Lewistown — to give you widely diverse clinical experiences that will encourage your professional identity formation and your understanding of health justice to make you a well-rounded practitioner.
Our campuses are headquartered in Atlantic City, Danville, Lewistown/State College, Sayre, and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Each of these campuses is an integral part of the school’s distributive model of medical education, and each provides early clinical experiences in diverse settings.
Campus assignment process
Campus assignment lottery
You’ll complete your clinical training at an assigned regional campus during core clinical immersion, phase two of the Total Health Curriculum.
You're assigned to a clinical campus through a lottery process, unless you’ve been assigned to a campus based on receipt of a scholarship or you have an approved exception. The lottery takes place just before Phase 1 orientation, and you’re notified of your assignment by email.
The School of Medicine reserves the right to reassign students at any time.
Specific location assignments
If you have circumstances that may justify a specific location assignment, we’ll review your request before the lottery. Those who qualify for exceptions will be assigned to their campus before the lottery.
Valid circumstances that may justify a specific location assignment:
- Care of a dependent child and/or a parent
- A medical condition that requires ongoing care by local medical providers
Switching campuses
If you have a major life change, you may petition the associate dean for student affairs to switch campuses. We’ll consider assignment changes only under extraordinary circumstances. Changing to another regional location depends on campus capacity. We’ll notify you in writing within 30 days of your request about the status of your petition.
