Course modules

The Clinical Faculty and Preceptor Academy (CFPA) course is asynchronous (no requirement for predetermined lecture or activity times) and self-paced (modules can be completed over the course of several days or weeks, or as long as three months from the date of enrollment). Assessments of learning are embedded throughout the CFPA modules, with brief tests of knowledge before and after completion of each unit of learning. 

By employing interactive learning activities and active learning strategies, this course helps translate knowledge and concepts into action, providing a toolkit of techniques to use in the role of preceptor, instructor and/or clinical faculty member. This learning opportunity prepares nurses for the role of clinical nurse educator using an evidence-based approach to teaching and learning.

The course is hosted in Geisinger’s learning management system, Canvas. Once registered, you’ll receive access to the Canvas course. To register for the academy and gain access to the Canvas course link, you must first complete the baseline survey below in a system called RedCap. This is the first of several RedCap surveys which are a mandatory component of completing the CFPA requirements. To be eligible for the financial incentives associated with completing the CFPA course, you must also complete all associated RedCap surveys.
