DANVILLE, PA -- Geisinger President and CEO David T. Feinberg, M.D., MBA, has landed in the top 10 of Modern Healthcare's 2016 list of the 50 Most Influential Physician Executives and Leaders.

Dr. Feinberg has been a fixture on the list in recent years but 2016 marks his first year in the top 10, ranking ninth in the esteemed grouping that's been deemed by peers and an expert panel to be the most influential in terms of demonstrating leadership and impact.

Rounding out the top 10 are, in order, Robert Califf, M.D., Commissioner, Food and Drug Administration; John Noseworthy, M.D., president and chief executive officer at the Mayo Clinic; Patrick Conway, M.D., deputy administrator for innovation and quality, chief medical officer at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services; Robert Wachter, M.D., professor and interim chairman, Department of Medicine at University of California, San Francisco; Toby Cosgrove, M.D., president and chief executive officer of the Cleveland Clinic; Richard Migliori, M.D., executive vice president of medical affairs and chief medical officer for UnitedHealth Group; David Torchiana, M.D., chief executive officer at Partners HealthCare; Benjamin Chu, M.D., newly named chief executive officer at Memorial Hermann Health System; Dr. Feinberg and Jonathan Perlin, M.D., PhD, president of clinical services and chief medical officer of the Hospital Corporation of America.

According to Modern Healthcare, these physician leaders are innovators, excel in community services, and demonstrate reputable executive authority. In recognizing Dr. Feinberg, the magazine wrote:

"Dr. David Feinberg has served as president and CEO at Geisinger just since May 2015, but he's already making his mark at the integrated organization. He's tested a warranty program that offers a money-back guarantee to patients for some healthcare services if the system doesn't meet their expectations. And he's doubled-down on the system's approach emphasizing the patient experience, telling Modern Healthcare last year that "we want to take patient-centeredness to the next level … We want to make our transitions in care remarkably smooth. We want patients to understand their bill."
