Geisinger Community Medical Center general surgeon to present lecture on hernia prevention

SCRANTON, Pa. – Timothy Farrell, M.D., general surgeon at Geisinger Community Medical Center will give a free presentation for runners about hernia prevention.
The lecture and Q&A session, “Running the Risk of a Hernia,” will be held from 6:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, at the Scranton Running Company, 3 W. Olive St., Scranton.
In anticipation of the 5th annual Scranton Half Marathon on Sunday, April 8, in which Geisinger is the presenting sponsor, Dr. Farrell will discuss the causes and symptoms of running and sports-related groin injuries, as well as tips to help prevent them. Stretching demonstrations will also be provided by the Scranton Running Company.
The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided.
