LEWISTOWN, Pa. – Geisinger Lewistown Auxiliary recently awarded four scholarships to employees in the Mifflin and Juniata counties who are continuing their higher education.

The Sophie Snook Scholarship, named after one of the Lewistown School of Nursing’s first graduates, is aimed at encouraging employees to deepen their knowledge in their area of expertise and thus provide excellent patient care. It also eases the financial burden of those who are keen to pursue their education but could not afford it.

Geisinger Lewistown Auxiliary awards the Sophie Snook Scholarship to deserving recipients yearly.

This year, recipients Darlis Varner, Jessica Nail, Makayla Reid, Jessie Wagner were awarded the scholarship based on leadership, commitment, character and academic ability.

Part of the money raised from the Auxiliary’s fundraising efforts each year go towards the scholarship fund in order to continue offering these valuable scholarships to fitting recipients.
