Geisinger becomes the first member of Risant Health

WILKES-BARRE, Pa.Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center recently welcomed the following emergency medicine physicians to its team: 

Lindsey Kay Duguet, M.D.: Dr. Duguet most recently completed an emergency medicine internship and residency at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. She earned her medical degree and numerous awards in excellence from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia in 2015. While in the city, she provided physicals to young athletes, offered health screenings at St. Michael’s Church and tutored medical students.

David Edwards, M.D.: Dr. Edwards most recently completed an emergency medicine residency at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. He earned his medical degree from the Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia, in 2015, where he earned the Distinguished Student Scholar Award in Family Medicine. 

Mary Gallo, M.D.: Dr. Gallo most recently completed an emergency medicine residency at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where she served as chief resident. She earned her medical degree from the SUNY School of Medicine in Stony Brook, New York, in 2015. While there, she was inducted in the Gold Humanism Honor Society. Dr. Gallo previously worked as a research technician at the Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. 

Sheel Mehta, D.O.: Dr. Meta most recently completed an emergency medicine residency at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. He earned his medical degree from Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, New Jersey, in 2015. During medical school, he tutored medical students, provided free medical care at a student-run clinic and worked as a scribe in various hospitals. 

Stephen H. Mohney, M.D.: Dr. Mohney most recently completed an emergency medicine residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where he served as the Prehospital Physician Chair. He earned his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine in Rochester, New York, in 2015. While in Rochester, Dr. Mohney helped the homeless with healthcare needs and volunteered at the free, student-run health clinic. In 2015, Dr. Mohney was awarded the Excellence in Emergency Medicine recognition from the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine.

Essie Reed-Schrader, M.D.: Dr. Reed-Schrader most recently completed an emergency medicine residency and emergency medical services fellowship at the University of Buffalo in Buffalo, New York, where she served as chief resident. She earned her medical degree from Penn State University College of Medicine in 2014. Dr. Reed-Schrader’s community service includes coordinating coverage for a student-run organization that cares for the homeless. She earned her undergraduate degree in biology from Bloomsburg University. 

Akash Patel, M.D.: Dr. Patel most recently completed his emergency medicine residency at Vidant Medical Center/East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. He earned his medical degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso, Texas, in 2015. Dr. Patel has served as an Advanced Trauma Life Support instructor for the American College of Surgeons and as a Basic Life Support course instructor for the American Heart Association. His robust volunteer work includes providing medical care at a free, student-run clinic and serving as a mentor to medical students. 

Keith D. Willner, M.D.: Dr. Willner most recently completed an emergency medicine residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He earned his medical degree from Stony Brook University School of Medicine in Stony Brook, New York, in 2015. Dr. Willner previously served as an EMS physician for the City of Pittsburgh, a STAT Medevac air transport flight physician, and an assistant medical director for Fayette County emergency medical services.
