FORTUNE names Geisinger to list of ‘America’s Most Innovative Companies’
The 300 organizations included in the list were selected based on three dimensions of innovation—product innovation, process innovation and innovation culture—and were evaluated using online surveys and interviews with experts in the field. The list includes companies in healthcare, tech, finance, communications and more.

Geisinger’s Steele Institute for Health Innovation includes teams focused on digital transformation, robotic process automation, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics and behavioral insights, as well as developing innovative approaches to address the social determinants of health—conditions like food insecurity and lack of access to housing—that affect overall health outcomes.
Over the past several years, Geisinger’s innovation work has been recognized nationally in a number of venues. In partnership with Medial EarlySign, Geisinger was named runner-up out of more than 300 entries in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Artificial Intelligence Health Outcomes Challenge, and was ranked among the most innovative health systems in the country. In 2022, Geisinger was named a finalist for the Hearst Health Prize for its innovative use of data science to manage chronic conditions, identify and treat at-risk patients and improve health outcomes. Earlier this year, Geisinger’s Artificial Intelligence Lab placed second in the Long COVID Computational Challenge, a project developed by the National Institutes of Health to improve understanding of the risks of Long COVID.
