Geisinger becomes the first member of Risant Health

TURBOTVILLE, Pa. – Warrior Run School District and Geisinger have partnered to bring health and wellness lessons to its elementary students with fun and creative designs throughout the school.

Dozens of messages covering the walls of hallways and other common areas encourage students to make decisions that benefit their physical and emotional health. The brightly colored decals were designed by Geisinger in partnership with district officials to personalize them to the students.

"Warrior Run believes in a holistic approach to education — one that recognizes the connection between mental and physical well-being,” said Thor Edmiston, Ed.D., Warrior Run School District superintendent. “By nurturing awareness and understanding of both mental and physical health in the Warrior Run Elementary School through Geisinger's ZING543210 program, a foundation is created for our students to become resilient, balanced individuals who can thrive academically and personally."

The effort is part of the health system’s ZING543210 program, which encourages healthy lifestyle choices and habits. The program encourages participants to try for the following goals every day:
5 servings of fruit and vegetables
4 positive affirmations
3 belly laughs
2 hours or less of recreational screen time
1 hour of outdoor activity
0 sugary, sweetened beverages

“There’s tremendous value in forming healthy habits at a young age,” said Megan Brosious, chief administrative officer for Geisinger’s central region. “By presenting these messages in a fun way, we’re hopeful it will build a strong, healthy foundation for the children’s future. We appreciate the partnership of the Warrior Run School District officials in bringing these concepts and lessons to their students.”

This is the first time Geisinger’s ZING program has partnered with a local school district to bring health messages to students.
