Geisinger becomes the first member of Risant Health

DANVILLE, Pa. – Join radiation oncologists Heath Mackley, MD and Charles Lee, MD, for a virtual PA Health Talk on CyberKnife on Wednesday, March 27, from 6 to 7 p.m. Geisinger is the only health system in the region to offer this innovative radiation therapy type. During the talk, Drs. Mackley and Lee will discuss how CyberKnife is used to treat brain tumors and facial pain disorders. At the end, they will answer questions.

CyberKnife is a non-invasive radiation treatment for the hardest-to-treat tumors. The robotic therapy targets complex tumors, both cancerous and non-cancerous, by delivering precise doses of radiation anywhere in the body. Unlike traditional radiation therapy, CyberKnife uses targeted radiation to the specific area affected by the tumor, protecting the healthy tissue. It is also less invasive than other forms of radiation therapy.

CyberKnife can be used to target tumors in the prostate, pancreas, kidney, liver, lung, head, neck and base of the skull, brain and the spine.

The live virtual event will be hosted via Microsoft Teams. To register, go to geisinger.org/cyberknifedoctalk. Once registered, you will receive a link to join the event.
