Geisinger becomes the first member of Risant Health

Employees deliver 1,500 stockings this week to patients spending Christmas in the hospital

DANVILLE, PA – Geisinger Health Plan (GHP) employees are hoping to spread some holiday cheer this week by delivering more than 1,500 stockings to patients spending Christmas in the hospital.

On Wednesday, GHP employees delivered more than 500 stockings to Geisinger Medical Center and Janet Weis Children’s Hospital, Danville.

About 450 GHP employees teamed up this year to fill more than 1,500 stockings with coloring books, stickers, slippers, magazines and other gifts for adults and children spending the holidays in the hospital. 

Last year, GHP donated a total of 1,121 stockings to patients at Geisinger Medical Center and Janet Weis Children’s Hospital, Danville, Geisinger Shamokin Area Community Hospital, Coal Township, Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital, Bloomsburg, and Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.

Enough stockings were filled this year to also include Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. All stockings will be delivered by the end of the week.
