Geisinger Insurance Store hosts first art exhibit
Award-winning artist featured at store through Feb. 16 at Geisinger's community building
WILKES-BARRE, PA – After opening its doors for community organizations to use for free, the Geisinger Insurance Store is showcasing the work of a local artist with its first exhibition.
The photography and digital artwork of M. Michele Geiser were put on display today and the exhibit will run through Feb. 16 at the insurance store in the Walmart shopping plaza at 2266 Wilkes-Barre Township Marketplace, Wilkes-Barre.
The art exhibit includes pieces from Geiser’s “Avant-garde Collection,” which she describes as a broad range of unconventional and experimental pieces inspired by a love of nature and the world around us. Her artwork has been featured in numerous exhibits in New York City, Philadelphia and throughout the northeast.
“Creating something that never before existed allows me to breathe,” Geiser said. “It also incorporates my strong connection to nature and my faith.”
The gallery is available for viewing 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
With the insurance store now available for free use by the community, GHP is renaming the facility “Geisinger Community Place.” A new sign is scheduled to be installed the week of January 22.
The facility features a conference room that fits up to 25 guests, plenty of parking, a computer, projector and screen, Internet access and space for food and beverages. It is an ideal location for local fire and police department meetings, non-profit events, health and wellness fairs and community and chamber of commerce associations.
Geisinger Community Place is staffed with representatives who can help enroll members and answer questions about Medicare Advantage plans, options for individuals and families through the Affordable Health Care Act, Medical Assistance and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).
