Geisinger Health Plan awards employees for Service Excellence
Danville, PA – Geisinger Health Plan recently presented Joanne Peters, GHP Gold enrollment, Tracey Harris, customer service, and Arielle Perry, care coordination, with its Service Excellence Awards.
The biannual award is presented to three GHP employees who consistently demonstrate a commitment to excellence in service and quality, a positive attitude, teamwork and dedication to GHP’s initiatives.
Steve Youso, GHP president and chief executive officer, presented the awards during a ceremony on Dec. 20 in the cafeteria at the Hughes Center.
Peters was nominated for the award after being lauded by Sammy Melissen, health insurance specialist at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, for her work resolving Medicare beneficiary issues.
“Joanne embodies excellence in her empathy, professionalism and thoroughness in resolving Medicare beneficiary issues,” Melissen said. “She goes above and beyond what is required, and ensures that the beneficiaries have all the information they need.”
Melissen also said Peters spent significant time training a coworker and noticed a remarkable improvement in her understanding of Medicare and skills in resolving issues.
“I often ask plan caseworkers to treat Medicare beneficiaries the way they would like their family members treated if they had a problem with their health insurance,” Melissen said. “Joanne exemplifies this principle with every beneficiary interaction which I have reviewed.”
Harris was nominated by Jenny Berry, customer service, for always being there to help her coworkers.
“This is a stressful department, but she always finds the time to give all the help and find the info needed,” Berry said. “She truly goes above and beyond her job to help and assist all in need.”
Arielle Perry was nominated by Chloe E. Kender, care coordination, for her work with a member who lost her son in an automobile accident. She said that Arielle continues to call the member at least weekly and has also supported her through her brother’s death.
“Arielle goes above and beyond by meeting her at her appointments and attending them with her to coordinate her care and advocate for the member,” Kender said. “Arielle provides excellent customer service by going above and beyond and collaborating with her personal care provider, pharmacist, etc. to have patient needs met and help her to understand her own healthcare. Through all of this member’s changes, losses and emotional struggles, she is able to rely on Arielle to check in with her and provide support. Having a reliable advocate within the Geisinger family has empowered this member to make positive changes in her life, that would most likely not have been possible without the help of Arielle Perry.”
