Geisinger becomes the first member of Risant Health

Thank you for trusting Geisinger Gold.

If you are enrolled in Geisinger Gold Secure Rx (HMO SNP), there will be a change on January 1, 2020, to how you receive your Pennsylvania Medical Assistance benefits. Your enrollment in Geisinger Gold Secure Rx (HMO SNP) will not change.

How your benefits will be covered
Geisinger Gold Secure Rx (HMO SNP) is your Medicare Advantage plan and is your primary insurance. This means Geisinger Gold will pay for most of your Medicare-covered medical and prescription drug costs. Medical Assistance pays for the rest of your Medicare-covered medical costs, as well as for some services which are only covered by Medical Assistance. You also have help from Medicare for prescription drug costs. You may have small copays for certain medical or prescription drug services, but the combination of these coverages means that nearly all your care is no cost to you.

What is changing?
The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) currently administers your Medical Assistance benefits. You will soon begin receiving information about choosing a Community Health Choices (CHC) company to administer your Medical Assistance benefits. The company you select will replace DHS as your Medical Assistance benefit administrator. This change will start January 1, 2020.

What does this mean?
Most importantly, you do not need to change your Medicare Advantage plan. You can stay with Geisinger Gold Secure Rx, and keep the same benefits, doctors, health management programs, and member service you know and rely on. We will work with your CHC plan as needed to coordinate your benefits, just as we do now with DHS.
